GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATIONS |
||
Dipentene is a
terpene liquid found in various volatile oils such as cardamon, mace, nutmeg ,
turpentine oil. This term is also reffered to the racemic mixture of limonene.
Dipentene is used as a solvent for resins, alkyds and
waxes and to make paints, enamels, lacquers and
polishes. It is used as a perfumery composition for
soaps, personal care products and cosmetics. It is used as an intermediate for
terpene resins, carvone, terylene, and rubber chemicals. It is used as an
oils dispersant, metal dryer. It is used as a
substitute for chlorinated solvents in degreasing metals for cleaning in the
electronic industry and the printing industry. alpha-Limonene has been used
as a gallstone solubilizer in pharmaceutical industry.
The term of epoxide indicate three membered cyclic ether (also called oxirane or or alkylene oxide) in which an oxygen atom is joined to each of two carbon atoms that are already bonded to each other. The unhindered oxygen atom carries two unshared pairs of electrons - a structure which favors the formation of coordination complexes and the solvation of cations. Epoxides are formed by some oxidation reactions of alkenes with peracids. Epoxide substances are used as raw materials for various applications including functional fluids, fuel additives, polyol replacements, agricultural and pharmaceutical molecules, flavor & fragrances, reactive diluents in cationic and UV cure applications, surfactants, adhesives, sealants, coatings, and special inks. Dipentene dioxide is used as reactive diluents in cationic and UV cure application industry. |
